An Evening with Silk Sonic

 An Evening With Silk Sonic was released on November 11th, 2021. The album contains ten songs that total to 36 minutes. The album takes influence from the 70’s R&B and Motown. This was a joint album between Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak with Bootsy Collins as a special guest. The album isn’t necessarily a continuous album but it does flow well. The album tells a story about a man in a relationship who meets a woman, breaks up with her because of her lifestyle, but then regrets his decision and decides to get back with her. The live version of “Leave The Door Open” which was sung during the 2021 Grammys is a personal favorite. This is the only live version of any song off of the album since Silk Sonic requires their audience to put their phone in a locked bag to prevent any recordings of the show. It was put into place in order to allow the audience to experience the show during a time without phones.

Brat

  Brat is a very recent album that was released on June 7, 2024. Charli xcx is a B ritish techno/pop star that has been on the scene for over a decade now. The album contains 15 songs totaling a 41-minute run time. Although at face value the album is techno and upbeat, some songs contain themes of feeling alone, jealous ly, and substance abuse. There was a huge build up around this album and when the album cov er was released it caused an uproar around the music community.
